Birthday Fun in Ibiza

In case you didn't see my last blog, The Perfect 40th Birthday Surprise, I recently gave my husband David a 3 day all-expense paid trip to Ibiza, Spain for his 40th birthday (for just the two of us). Forty is a pretty special number! A shirt or pair of socks just wouldn't do.

I really wanted to make his birthday gift special. I thought about a practical gift, like something for work, such as a briefcase. And then, I thought about replacing his almost worn out wallet. But then I thought about how that will also eventually wear out. Somehow, those things just didn't seem appropriate for his 40th birthday. I wanted to give him something he would never forget and that wouldn't wear out. So I decided, he needed a MEMORY!

Because turning forty is a special day, I wanted to make sure our trip was special. I chose Aguas de Ibiza Lifestyle & Spa hotel with an incredible view! This is considered a small luxury hotel with all the amenities you could expect out of a larger hotel.

After we took in the breathtaking view from our room, we got ready and headed up to one of the two restaurants for dinner and then found ourselves relaxing by the crystal blue pool on the rooftop lounge. The port lights, soft jazz, sea breeze and Spanish wine was exactly what we needed to set the birthday mood.

The Aguas de Ibiza hotel offered a full buffet fit for any kind of way of eating. PERFECT for us, since we are vegan! There was a full array of fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, juices, grains and coffee. And if that doesn't fit the bill, they also offer a menu of which you can order from.

The Revival Wellness Club located at the hotel was incredible. Whether you’re seeking a pampering spa treatment, exercise programs, a juice detox or a total mind and body balance, the chic, minimalist, all-white space offers something for everyone. We opted for the full body 90 minute massage and it was heavenly! I would recommend calling ahead to schedule your treatments.

After a wonderful spa day it was time to hit the town, or rather the countryside! We discovered this little gem on a quiet remote part of the island. "Can Domingo is the culmination of a dream. conceived and created by three friends whose passion for excellent food, superb wines, efficient, friendly service and a love for Ibiza has created one of the most beautiful and relaxing dining experiences on the Island."

"A summer breeze sends the scent of wild flowers through the windows of the dining room; tables sit nestled amongst the gardens and terraces, under a canopy of mature olive and fruit trees. The menu presents a true Italian sensibility, contemporary fine dining with a touch of tradition, reflecting the abundance of high quality local produce and the providence of the Can Domingo organic garden." And they do offer a full vegan menu which we found delightful.

We spent our last night in the Southeast part of the island at The Hotel Torre Del Mar. It was a wonderful experience with an stunning view from our room which included sunbeds and a Jacuzzi.

When planning our trip to Ibiza, my goal was to find chilled lounges with a relaxing feel and NO loud music. With Nassau Beach Club, I found just that. This beach club fit the bill for every expectation that we had. And it has a gorgeous sea view to boot.

Ibiza went over and above every imaginable expectation that we had for an awesome 40th birthday celebration. Despite it's reputation for being a party island, Ibiza proved to be an island of diversity. We found it to have a quiet side, a romantic side and a kid friendly side. There's a little bit of something for everyone. We loved it so much, we considered staying an extra night. However, we opted to fly home and plan another trip including the rest of the family in the near future.
