You might be asking, what I mean by remaining happy. There's a lot of people that look at my life and say to me, “You have it all. You're traveling across the globe, have 5 amazing kids, a beautiful granddaughter and are married of course, a handsome and amazing husband.” And if they were to read this, I'm sure they would ask,“What could she possibly be unhappy about?” But I'm telling you, the struggle is there and it is very real. I battle with depression. I always have. It's a part of my life that tries to keep me down, way down, and a few times it even succeeded!
I know, you must be thinking about the blogs that I write, about having a great life and the motivational uplifting posts that I share on social media. And how I'm able to write how I do, knowing that I struggle with depression. And I'm here to say that I DO have a great life that I'm very thankful for. I count my blessings and I live to motivate and encourage my family and others that I'm with every chance I get. That is my greatest joy and what I was created to do! But life has not always a bed of roses...
There's No Perfect Life
I would really like to share with you, openly and from my heart that there is no perfect life! I find it so interesting, that in the Christian community, so many try to claim that if you become a Christian then everything magically changes and you instantly have this magnificent, perfect life. But I can say in all honesty, this is far from true. I do have to also be clear, that once I came back into a full and intimate relationship with Jesus, my outlook on life changed. There was a profound joy that entered into my heart that began to change my mind and soul, transforming who I was into who I am and who I am still becoming. I entered into a journey of renewal. But that part of my struggle with depression still remains.
